The answer to that question is an emphatic yes and I know from personal experience!
My personal philosophy on food is that if you can give your body nutrient dense foods in the necessary amounts, exercise smart with an active lifestyle, and spend QUALITY time with the people you love then your body will adjust to its optimum health point. Now this won’t happen over night and it will take some work but when you take care of your mental and physical health then your body will align itself to where it should be – if you’re overweight your body will appropriately lose weight and if you’re under weight then your body will appropriately gain.
What Are Nutrient Dense Foods?
Nutrient Dense foods are the super foods that allow you to leverage your calories, you get maximum bang for each calorie eaten. These would be foods filled with protein, fiber, vitamins, antioxidants, and other essential nutrients.
|Kale||Kidney Beans||Grass Fed Beef|
|Collards||Sweet Potato||Whole Grain Breads|
|Bok Choy||Sunflower Seeds||Whole Wheat Pasta|
|Broccoli Rabe||Chia Seeds||Olive Oil|
|Pomegranate Juice||Skim Milk|
And that’s just to name a few examples! When you eat nutrient dense foods you can be safe knowing that every calorie you take in is doing your body good and is providing essential resources your body needs. Compare that to the calories you’re getting from that last drive-thru burger you had or take out burrito.
I know you might be thinking that this isn’t shocking news I mean after all we’ve all heard that eating your fruits and veggies is essential to health but I’m here to tell you that not only are they essential to maximum health but with the right recipes they can be delicious! When you’re eating simply prepared high quality foods that taste amazing you won’t feel deprived, will enjoy what you eat and feel full and satisfied on healthy foods not junk food.
