After 3 grueling months of total chaos and insanity I’ve got a new home and a dazzling new gourmet kitchen
A few months ago my beautiful wife and I moved into a new little fixer-upper home closer to work since I got a promotion at my job at the Public Utility. Our new home has good bones but it just needs a little TLC and so the last two months have been consumed with a kitchen remodel; we gutted the entire thing and had to start from scratch. Over eight weeks living out of boxes and in the middle of a construction zone has definitely left it’s toll on me but I am very thankful for Juice Plus and their all-natural smoothies it was a true godsend keeping me from having to eat out at a restaurant three meals a day seven days a week.
As you can see from the pictures both before and after it is quite a transformation. I do want to point out in the before picture that’s the one provided by the real estate agent so that’s the best possible picture taken by the person who’s trying to sell the house and is desperate on making it look as good as possible. Trust me when I tell you the real life version was 1 million times worse!
So here we are with a brand-new kitchen all new flooring both upstairs and downstairs and fresh coats of paint throughout the house with a few detours into mold remediation – I did say it needed some TLC – and while there are still a million and one little projects to do, not the least of which are a brand-new backyard and two bathrooms, I can finally call this place home. That is the great beauty of buying a fixer-upper in that when you do the remodel and the upgrades everything is exactly how you want it; it’s your colors, it’s your materials, it’s your appliances.
This Sunday we had the first official Sunday Supper in the new house and new kitchen and it was magnificent! I grilled some Organic Grass-fed ultra tender fillet mignon wrapped in artisanal hickory smoked bacon – pure bliss, some pasta tossed in a butter olive oil sauce with little cherry tomatoes and some spinach and garlic – oh so delicious!. Pan-seared broccolini with a dash of lemon juice and a touch of Parmesan Cheese made for an excellent side dish. It was a wonderful evening; one of those times when you realize what life is all about, those moments that make life a true blessing… good wine, great food, and excellent company.
While my life is still total chaos with the promotion to Planning Engineer from just Planning Assistant and working 12 to 13 hour days I hope to get back into the swing of things with the posts on the latest front of the never ending juggling act between being true to my Mediterranean roots, embracing the Mediterranean Lifestyle – the healthiest in the world, and having a successful career & living the American dream.
